Movement is Medicine: Postpartum Support: Services

Thursdays, 10-11:15am  45 mins of Postpartum Yoga followed by 30 mins of New Parent Support Group

A gentle, postpartum yoga class focusing on chest and upper back opening, hip opening and core restoration to help with Diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA).

Diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA) is a separation of the rectus abdominis muscles along the linea alba, the vertical ligament dividing the rectus muscles.

100% of women have some level of DRA in the third trimester. It is estimated that 66% of women have some level of pelvic floor dysfunction associated with diastasis recti. Yoga is a fantastic way to access the deep core musculature through breathing.

Many new parents find that their bodies feels sore specially in the neck, shoulders, back and hips from feeding, rocking, lack of sleep. There are many wonderful things about your new baby, but an achy body is not one of them. Physical exercise during pregnancy and the postpartum period is a safe and effectivestrategy to achieve better psychological well-being and to reduce postpartum depressive symptoms.

If you have only recently given birth, take it easy and stop if anything causes pain.

Come for yoga and stay for our, judgement free, parents support group! Shiya have a infant scale for weight checks and weighted feeds available at each group meeting.
